Enjoyed your reflections on life as you live it in NY. Your attitude definitely helps you deal with the balances we try to create between doing what we'd like to do and doing what we have to do. It's got to the point in the semester where I'm so busy with student work that I expect very little of myself on weekends. It has worked for me this term to work on a file I transferred to the new Mac - still feels new, though I've had it a couple of months now. It's that novel I don't want to give up on. But rewriting again and again can be hard. How to be objective? Well a new computer, with a new look to the text, helps, I find. I'm reformatting a little as I go and finding small things and one larger thing I overlooked. It's actually exciting. Some of us are tireless rewriters. David is one of those. He's working on about the 100th draft of a screenplay he may have told you about.
I took your suggestions regarding how to attach and download filesand it's working now. I've been working with Word, which I got from the college, and which is the word processing program I'm most familiar with. At Christmas break I'll look into other options, but I'm glad to be functioning on the new machine. It's nice to use, although I'm sure I use very little of what it has to offer. Later ...
Enjoying Dylan's Chronicles, which David gave me for my birthday. I was in NY as an 18 year old married girl, and living in the Village about the same time he was, I think. I may have passed him on the street. But I didn't get to the clubs enough to know a lot about the music happening then. I love all the reading he did, out of sheer curiosity. Explains where some of his lyrics came from. An interestingly structured book. What a guy, eh?
The weather here is finally starting to change to what we usually expect in the fall, grey skies and rain. But it has been brilliant - a truly golden autumn. I moved into this house the same time of year, and the colours we chose to paint inside reflect the season - deep red, olive-y green, two shades of yellow. It's also hockey season, which I've already mentioned I know. The "new" Canucks are showing they're tenacious. Two overtime wins on the road. They play Dallas tonight, which should challenge all they've got.
